Ever taken a crafting/scrapbooking class? What kind and where at?

I have taken tons of classes! And taught tons too.
![]() My first class was a Creative Memories Workshop on Organization. More recently, I took 5 classes at the Scrapbook Mega Meet in Michigan. They ranged from acrylic mini albums to how to take fantastic photos. I think classes are the best because you learn new techniques and can finish pages or a project. |

I took cake decorating classes through Michael's a few years back. I took watercolor classes in high school from my neighbor. And I took pottery classes after moving to Virginia four years ago. Last week was the first time I've taken any paper crafting classes. I really enjoyed them. I got 8 layouts complete and two mini books. Plus I learned a few cool tricks.

I've taken tons of stamping and scrapbooking classes at stores and conventions. At this point, I'm not too interested in taking classes as I find I don't ever use the projects made in the class. I do enjoy learning new techniques and such but with so many resources on the internet and in books and magazines, a class usually isn't necessary. Plus I got a bit burned out on bad/mediocre classes at conventions. These days I'd rather spend the time actually making pages for my albums since I don't get enough time to do it.

The way I learned my basics was to take a class at Michael's. I knew nothing, hadn't even seen but one scrapbook just before taking the class. So dumb, I even thought that the borders were cut around the pictures, not the pictures laid on top.
My first book was our honeymoon in '04, and that class helped me start my first pages in that book. Michael's would do all-night crops and they would have make-and-takes and I would do those most of the time and get a page or two completed that way. I haven't taken any classes outside of Michael's, but I TiVo all the scrapbooking shows; although I haven't watched any probably since Dean was born. Who has time to watch TV now? |
